My Webpage, My World.

So lemme see. You're here on my page, and I figure you may need some context for all the stuff that goes on here. To remedy said situation, I will provide you with the necessary background about me that may or may not help you at all.

Culturally

I'm Irish, Russian, Polish, and Pennsylvania Dutch. As such I appear a very white kid. (Well, last time I checked- Hold on a sec. *Pulls up shirt sleeve and glances down* Yeah... Still white. Anyways.) I'm also Jewish. Not normally problems in New York, but most white people and Jews do not live in East Flatbush. This isn't saying i'm in dire straits, because I'm not at all. Our house happens to be a 3 story 93 year old Victorian. But you cross the street, and you come across 6 story apartment buildings that lack elevators. You travel one block north and one block east, and there are no more white people. This has resulted in three things. One, both of my absolute boys are black. I associate easier with black people than white ones. To me they're less fake. Two, I listen to a lot of rap music, and not in that fake, "I'm cool and hard because of it" kinda way. I grew up with it, na'mean? This leaves me in the interesting position of a white kid with some bounce. Freestylin' aint my thing, but show me a step and I can kick it back to ya. Oh yeah, and I tend to drop a lot of ebonics into my sentences. Yes, it is "poor English" grammatically, but all you haters are just jealous- check the Ebonics Rant for why.

Socially

I was a bit of a nerdy kid. I read a lot. I was in the smart class. But people were always cool with me, so I never lacked friends. I was mad shy for most of my childhood, and that kinda shedded off around 8th grade. So high school came around, clean slate and all. Though my two boys went to a different school, I joined the football team and that made the transition a lot easier. Things were going fairly well. I went out with this girl I liked from English, maintained the A-, was generally pretty happy. And then came second term. I had no classes with my three best friends. Things broke off with the girl. Things kinda sucked. Then came sophomore year. The football team had caught wind of the girl I went out with and gave me endless amounts of shit because she's athletic. I lost all respect among team members, and their friends. People can be assholes. After that things slowly turned around (big ups to Gabe, blonde Mariel, the twins, Anna, Robin and James) and by the end of Junior year I was chillin on the reg, high on life. But at the same time, this was the beginning of a tremendous downfall with the women. Which is of late turning around. :-D Check out the Womenfolk in the rants for the lowdown. Basically, now I have a wide variety of friends, no set clique (which kinda sucks, but not really), a ton of people I'm acquainted with, and no self-confidence around girls (Well, maybe some). Interesting combo really. Makes for fun stories. Hit up the Short Stories for the fun stuff.

Stuff I like

I'm big on sports. I have played basketball, football, baseball, and soccer on teams. I still play a lot of basketball. I watch sports on TV. Favorite teams, in order of preference: Giants (football), Mets (baseball), St. John's (college basketball), 76ers (basketball), Rangers (hockey), and Athletics (baseball). Giants, Mets, and Knicks were inheirited from Dad. 76ers cuz AI is the man. And he has the illest kicks ever. St. John's was cuz I needed a Big East college b-ball team, and I went with Felipe Lopez and the Red Storm instead of the Answer and G-Town- Good choice no? Neways, the Rangers is from when I decided to start following hockey. And to round out the bunch, the A's because the Mets decided to trade my favorite player, one Jason Isringhausen, for Billy Taylor, who is no longer in the major leagues. Assholes.

I also like reading. Sci-fi is good stuff. The Star Wars books are quality. But the fav book plateau goes to Sewer, Gas, and Electric: The Public Works Trilogy by Matt Ruff. It's a mos def hq book, but I can't really describe it without it coming out wrong. Just take my word on it. For real. My other favorite book is All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren. It's about the rise and fall of a politician in Depression era Louisana (or thereabouts- they never really say...). Anyways, I was left quite convinced that I am Jack Burden.

Stephanie Rosenbloom. One love kid. (She wanted me to tell you guys that she really didn't make me do that, and it was of my own volition.)

Video games are good entertainment. You can get wrapped up in them (RPG's and such) or play detached for fun at a party or something. I'm a big fan of Chrono Trigger, the first 64 Zelda, and Secret of Mana. All told though, not many things rival the "see the flag, hit the button" game in mario party at 2 in the morning.

Girls. A lot. Even for all the grief they cause me. Always the boy friend, never the boyfriend. It's safe to say I have a wandering eye. I see someone that's attractive, I take it in. You could say I'm easily distracted. But who isn't? And contrary to popular belief, there are hot girls at Stuy- just not in the same ratio as other schools. But we're not exactly a normal populace to start with either. But that is a whole other story. And before I get into that, or anything else for that matter, here's the...

Stuff I Don't Like

The Knicks! (Who the fuck one) resigns and two) makes the highest paid shooting guard in the NBA Allan Houston?! C'mon people. 11- yes, eleven shooting guards who make less money than he does score more points than him. Who else was giving Houston an offer sheet, let alone $100 million?! Let's fuck the salary cap and the team for the next seven years... oh look... we did! They just lost a fan.) People who talk excessively- extended periods and often. Girls who like leading people on. The Nets (What schmuck of a team trades Starbury??? And Eddie Griffin. They got some kinda thing goin on there, lemme tell ya.) Sega (in general- HAHA! Dreamcast is dead!). Sony (the SNES CD- I mean PSX I and II). People who nag (I heard you the first three times- I just forgot). Other girls who don't know when they need to make the move. Website Programs (This is all free-form, buddy). Fake People. Cliques. The list goes on. You want to hear more check out the Rants or e-mail me. I'll get back to you if you make the effort to write.
